This summer will bring back white parties of all kinds – from fund-raisers, charities, yacht parties, all-white night club scenes, celebrity white parties and of course Le Diner En Blanc parties.  If you’re planning to attend any of these annual white parties this year, you can be certain smartphones will be in-hand and photographers will be everywhere looking for picture-perfect shots to commemorate the event.  The first step finding your white party outfit is to determine how casual or formal the event will be.  The good news is, with the increased number of all-white attire parties around the country, guys now have more outfit options than ever to choose from.

For Casual White Parties

If attending a casual or not so formal white party, invest in a pair of white jeans or chinos, and white shoes.  With these two items, you’ll be able to easily cycle through white polos, dress shirts, or linen front-button shirts for a beachy relaxed style – whatever the theme.  To make the casual look more party-worthy, include white accessories such as white belts, ties, sunglasses watch or bracelets.  This look is so flexible, you can add a casual white jacket (they exist) for cooler weather or parties lasting into the evening hours.

Fit is crucial when wearing all white.  Just like the cut of a suit affects the overall look, the cut of jeans needs to match your body contour, and the shirt needs to match your shoulder width & arm length if it has sleeves.

You can’t go wrong in all white, so whether you’re starting from scratch or hunting for those hard-to-find accessories, here are some examples to get the creative juices flowing so you can plan ahead and rock the style that fits you best.

White Pants with Linen Shirt

Good for beach, boating, or overly warm venues.  It’s very common to see men in relaxed Tommy Bahama-inspired button-down shirts and pants.  If you like, embrace it. Just remember to add a pair of white boat shoes or fashion sneakers to pull the look together when on land.

White Jeans or Trousers

Denim is the most universal fabric out there.  You can pair it with almost any other fabric. White jeans can easily be dressed up or down to match your style and the party’s intended theme. Adding a crisp pair of white sneakers or slip-ons will pull it all together.  You could be mistaken as the guest celebrity.

For Semi-Formal & Formal White Parties

Are you attending one of the hottest white parties of the year? The key is to know what the party host is expecting. For a semi-formal theme, you can try tailored slacks, a blazer, or a white jacket in cotton or linen. Upgrade the undershirt from a white t-shirt to a casual collared shirt. Make sure your jacket and pants are tailored to fit your body(properly tailored suit).

Vest/Tie Combos

Is it too warm for a jacket or blazer but still want to look dapper? Try white slacks paired with white slip-on loafers, a white collared shirt, and add a lightweight white silk vest, silk tie, or bowtie.  A clean white hat such as a white Kangol or fedora can be added to any of these looks without fail.  Give it a try.

The All-White Suit

For more formal events you should go all-in with an all-white suit. The suit itself should be bright white, not ivory, to match the bright white shirt, and shoes. This look is tough if buying the jacket and pants from different manufacturers or stores because every brand has its own shade of white. Depending on the event, shoes can be either shiny or matte but make sure to avoid shoes with colorful logos – it defeats the purpose of wearing the suit. That being said, the best part of wearing a white suit is adding accessories that match your personal style. Anything goes. A lack of creativity will be your only enemy.

You can stay mainstream add any white hat, a white pocket square, even a vest/tie combo. Or you can go outside the norm and add a white wig, hats, and masks. A horsehead mask has photo-bombed more pics than we can count.
